Kathak Debut Of Mamta Farsaiya Mesmerises Delhi At ‘Manch Pravesh’ Celebration

Indian classical dance took the spotlight at the Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, as Mamta Farsaiya delivered her debut Kathak performance during the grand celebration of ‘Manch Pravesh’.

The event, rich in tradition and emotion, marked a significant milestone in her artistic journey and captivated audiences with its authenticity and elegance.

Performing her Manch Pravesh  a formal solo debut that marks a student’s readiness to perform independently Mamta Farsaiya received widespread acclaim for her grace, precision, and expressive storytelling.

A disciple of Vidushi Saraswati Sen, the senior-most student of the late Padma Vibhushan Pt Birju Maharaj Ji, Mamta drew on a rich lineage of Kathak tradition to craft a soulful and technically refined performance.

“This was my first experience on a professional stage, and it felt like a dream come true,” Mamta expressed emotionally after the event. “Kathak is the soul of my existence, and the warmth and appreciation I received today will remain etched in my heart forever.”

Spiritual Beginnings And Artistic Excellence

The evening opened with a traditional Ganesh Vandana, invoking blessings for an auspicious start.

Mamta then performed a series of intricate Kathak compositions, masterfully blending laya (rhythm), taal (beat), and bhav (expression).

Each piece resonated with the audience, who responded with enthusiastic applause, creating an electric and emotionally charged atmosphere within the auditorium.

Dignitaries And Cultural Icons In Attendance

Adding to the evening’s significance, Dr Mahesh Sharma, Member of Parliament (Gautam Buddha Nagar) and former Union Minister, attended as the Chief Guest.

In his address, he praised the dancer and highlighted the importance of preserving India’s classical arts.

“Indian classical arts are an intrinsic part of our cultural heritage. Mamta’s performance was not merely a showcase of talent, but of devotion and discipline,” Dr Sharma remarked. “Her journey is inspiring, and I commend her dedication to keeping this rich tradition alive.”

The event drew an esteemed audience, including Rajesh Bhardwaj, Chairman of the Wheelchair Cricket India Association, as well as renowned artists, gurus, and cultural patrons from Delhi-NCR.

The collective appreciation from the cultural fraternity further affirmed Mamta’s potential as a rising star in the classical dance world.

Carrying Forward A Timeless Legacy

Beyond the technical brilliance, Mamta’s performance stood as a heartfelt tribute to the guru-shishya parampara, the traditional teacher-student lineage that remains central to Indian classical disciplines.

Under the guidance of Vidushi Saraswati Sen, Mamta has clearly imbibed not just the art, but the spirit of Kathak.

As the curtains fell on a memorable evening, many in the audience hailed Mamta Farsaiya as a fresh and powerful new voice in Kathak.

Further with her strong foundation and evident passion, she appears well poised to carry forward the legacy of her gurus and contribute meaningfully to the evolving story of Indian classical dance.
