Kashmir Like Snow In Madhya Pradesh? See What Hailstorm Did To The State And Crops

Many districts of Madhya Pradesh were covered by a white sheet of snow as intense rain and hailstorms caused damage to the crops.

Meanwhile, the roadways in the high areas of Jammu & Kashmir and Shimla were ‘whitewashed’ by a continuous hailstorm that lasted for almost 30 minutes.

Heavy Hailstorms in Madhya Pradesh

The residents of Madhya Pradesh informed that in the morning the sky was clear and no one could feel that something like this could happen. At 2:30 pm, dark clouds began to accumulate and within a short period of 30 minutes, it started raining with a hailstorm size of 25 millimeters. Within a few minutes, the entire area was covered with a thick blanket of snow. Due to this, it seems like Kashmir appeared there.

Crops that were scheduled for harvest in villages of the Bajaag development block in Madhya Pradesh’s Dindori were also harmed by the severe hailstorm.

Locals who were present during the entire incident reported that in the Nimar region, the period of extreme heat typically starts in the final week of March. The temperature here was around 37 degrees Celsius even just a few days ago. However,  the temperature dropped to 2 to 3 degrees as a result of the last two days’ weather changes.

At present, the harvesting of gram and wheat crops is going on in the districts. The unseasonal rain will cause huge damage to the crops. Due to unpleasant weather conditions, the quality of crops will also get affected.

In Katkoot of the Barwah region two days ago, dry rivers were flooded as a result of torrential rain and hailstorms.

The Shahdol-Pandaria state highway was covered with hail as big as the size of a plum, affecting the movement of traffic.

Lands adjacent to the highway were seen covered with hail.

IMD Prediction

On Saturday, sections of Delhi-NCR were hit hard by rain, which decreased the temperature. While most of Delhi had heavy rain, certain places also experienced hailstorms. For the central, western, and southern peninsulas of India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to light showers until March 22.

Unseasonal rains and hail are anticipated in the coming days due to western disturbances, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Additionally, the weather agency advised farmers in Punjab, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh to put off harvesting their rabi crops, including wheat.
