Kashi-Delhi Vande Bharat Sleeper: PM Modi Calls Launch A Historic Milestone

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the upcoming Kashi-Delhi Vande Bharat Sleeper service a historic milestone. He said it would save time and offer safer, more comfortable journeys.

In a post on X, PM Modi said the service would benefit passengers travelling between Delhi and Kashi.

“Today is a historic day for those travelling by rail between Delhi and Kashi. With the launch of the Kashi-Delhi Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, not only will there be a saving of time, but their experience is also set to improve. Equipped with modern amenities and a state-of-the-art safety system, this is the country’s second Vande Bharat Sleeper Train,” he wrote.

In another post, the Prime Minister said the service would make travel easier for millions of devotees, tourists, young people and businesspersons.

The train will connect Kashi and Delhi via Prayagraj and Kanpur Central.

PM Modi said it would ease pilgrimages to Baba Vishwanath Temple and the Sangam. He added that it would link faith with opportunity and tradition with modernity.

Following the launch of the Howrah-Kamakhya Vande Bharat Sleeper service, Indian Railways is preparing to introduce the new route.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will flag off the train from Varanasi.

The 16-coach train will offer three accommodation classes: Third AC, Second AC and First AC. The train will operate six days a week.

Train number 27421 will leave Varanasi at 08:50 PM and reach Delhi at 05:55 AM the next day.

In the return direction, train number 27422 will depart New Delhi at 09:40 PM and arrive in Varanasi at 06:45 AMX.

The train will cover 760 km in nine hours and 30 minutes, offering faster overnight travel.
