Karnataka recorded 104 new Covid cases on Saturday, bringing the total number of active cases to 273, according to the health department’s Sunday health bulletin, amid an increase in Covid-19 cases. Since December 15, the state has also reported four Covid-related deaths.
Since neighboring Kerala observed a substantial increase in the number of cases, the state government is keeping a careful eye on the Covid situation in the state. The state’s border district health officials have previously been notified by the government. Still, no limitations on travel have been placed at this time.
The administration established a new cabinet subcommittee on Friday, and it is said that this group will work in tandem with the current Technical Advisory group (TAC). State health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, minister of medical education Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil, minister of social welfare HC Mahadevappa, and minister of higher education MC Sudhakar are members of the new subcommittee to address COVID-19.
In a statement, Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah advised people not to panic and to take preventative measures to lower their chance of contracting the infection.
The Karnataka government previously issued an advise advising people 60 years of age and older, those with comorbidities (particularly liver, kidney, and heart problems), women who are pregnant, and nursing mothers to wear face masks outside. They are also strongly urged not to go to busy places, closed spaces, or places with inadequate ventilation.
Dinesh Gundu, the Karnataka health minister, emphasized that he gave the go-ahead for the officials to quickly ramp up the number of tests.
