Kanjhawala Case: Funeral of victim amidst the slogan demands of ‘Justice for Anjali’,

Kanjhawala Case: Anjali was cremated at the Shivpuri Mukti Dham cremation ground today in the evening. The 20-year-old girl died after getting dragged under a car for around 12 kilometers in Delhi’s Kanjhawala area during the early hours of Sunday.

Over one thousand police and paramilitary personnel were deployed aroundthe victim’s house while taking the body to the cremation ground to avoid any untoward incident.

Kanjhawala Case: The ambulance in which the body of the deceased was taken for the last journey was accompanied by more than fifty police vehicles. Apart from the family members, no one was allowed to enter the cremation ground.

A large number of people gathered outside the cremation ground, carrying placards and photographs of the victim, raising slogans of ‘Justice for Anjali’ to register their protest against the police.

The protester raised questions

An angry protestor says, ”Where was the police when the incident took place?” Shouting slogan Rampal, a resident of Karan Vihar demands justice for Anjali, saying. ”We demand death penalty for the accused.” Another protester said, ”Where was the police when the victim was dragged for 12 km? How many police vehicles were patrolling there in the area? The police personnel found guilty of negligence, should be suspended.”

Was dragged for about 12 km

After getting her scooty hit by a car in the early hours of Sunday, Anjali, got trapped under the car and was dragged for about 12 km from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala. She succumbed to her injuries on the spot. Five people in the car have been arrested, who are currently in police custody and the investigation is on.
