Veteran actor Kabir Bedi urged greater promotion of tourism in India during his visit to Italy on Thursday.
The actor, famous for his role in the series Blue, praised India’s vast natural diversity, highlighting how it has significantly increased domestic tourism in recent years.
Speaking to ANI, Bedi said, “Indian tourism should be promoted because our locations are no less than the others. We have stunning scenes the Himalayas, forests, deserts, beaches, buildings and forts. What do we not have in India! People used to go abroad for vacations but now domestic tourism has increased. We want people from outside to visit India and admire our locations. We have come here to bring the message to Italy that India is a wonderful place and you must come there.”
Reflecting on his lead role in the Italian mini-series Sandokan, Bedi highlighted that many Italian productions have filmed in India because of its rich landscapes and unique settings.

“In my series Sandokan, India was shown. Several series from Italy were shot in India and I too was a part of it. They showed amazing locations. It is important to remind people that we do have those locations as well as new locations,” he explained.
Bedi also emphasised the need to improve infrastructure to further develop India’s tourism sector. He stressed the importance of quality accommodation and easy accessibility for visitors.
“Building the necessary infrastructure is important because good accommodation helps people reach, stay, and enjoy the place. The goal of the Italy-India meeting was to bring India’s message here that not only for investment but (come to India) even as a tourism destination, as a place where people can go and admire the culture,” he added.
Kabir Bedi is well known for his portrayal of Emperor Shah Jahan in Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story and his role as an antagonist in Khoon Bhari Maang.
He appeared in popular films such as Main Hoon Na and Kamagata Maru, working alongside Amitabh Bachchan and John Abraham.
Additionally, Bedi starred in the Tamil film Aravaan, directed by Vasanthabalan.
