Justice Manmohan was sworn in as a judge of the Supreme Court on Thursday. Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna administered the oath of office.
The Centre approved his appointment on Tuesday, following the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium. Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the decision on X, stating that the President, after consulting the CJI, appointed Justice Manmohan, Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, to the apex court.
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his name last week, noting that the court currently has only one judge from the Delhi High Court.

Justice Manmohan, appointed as a Delhi High Court judge in March 2008, became its Chief Justice on September 29. He is the second-highest in seniority among all High Court judges and the senior-most judge in the Delhi High Court.
Before joining the judiciary, he practiced in civil, criminal, constitutional, taxation, and arbitration law. He also served as Senior Panel Advocate for the Union government in the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court.
Justice Manmohan, born on December 17, 1962, in Delhi, earned his B.A. (Hons.) in History from Hindu College, University of Delhi, and attended Campus Law Centre, Delhi University.
