Jharkhand Assembly Adjourned Indefinitely; CM Soren Announces Ex-Gratia And Compassionate Jobs For Agniveers

On the final day of the monsoon session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, the proceedings began amidst the uproar from the opposition. Chief Minister Hemant Soren delivered a speech in the House, where he robustly countered the opposition’s criticisms. As the Chief Minister began his address, the opposition MLAs intensified their disruptions, with many coming inside from outside the House, creating a commotion. Following the Chief Minister’s speech, the Speaker also addressed the House, after which the session was adjourned indefinitely.

In his speech, the Chief Minister criticized the opposition, accusing them of lacking a constructive agenda and pursuing a political vendetta. He lamented that an important session had been reduced to chaos by the opposition’s antics. Amid increasing sloganeering from the opposition MLAs, the CM declared that he had a “black book” documenting their misdeeds over the past five years. He accused them of corruption, land theft, and even murder, asserting that they were the real land robbers who had wrongfully imprisoned him on similar charges.

The Chief Minister also targeted Himanta, accusing him of neglecting his flood-ravaged state to engage in divisive politics in Jharkhand. He asserted that attempts were being made to split Jharkhand and its society but reassured that these efforts would fail both in Jharkhand and Assam. Highlighting his government’s achievements, he mentioned the creation of over one lakh jobs in non-government institutions and the distribution of appointment letters to thousands of youths. He criticized the opposition for not establishing necessary rules for government jobs over the past 20 years, a task his government had undertaken. Soren pointed out that 90% of tribal natives had been appointed under his administration and accused the opposition of hypocrisy regarding local policies.

Addressing the issue of demography, the Chief Minister questioned the opposition on the population increase in Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro, and Jamshedpur, which led to a decline in the tribal population. He warned that the opposition’s actions could worsen the country’s situation beyond that of Pakistan, citing rising inflation. Criticizing the central government, he referred to it as a “government of crutches” and condemned the illegal appointment of assistant policemen by the previous administration, while highlighting his government’s decision to provide continuous extensions and 10% reservation in police appointments.

In a significant announcement, the Chief Minister declared that his government would provide ex-gratia to Agniveers and assured government jobs on compassionate grounds for permanent residents. He emphasized that his administration was focused on clear goals and would continue to counter the opposition’s attacks effectively, regardless of how many external leaders they brought to Jharkhand.
