Jealousy has no bounds, and a horrific incident recently reported from Uttar Pradesh is proof of that. A 37-year-old businessman strangled his wife to death in Lucknow on Sunday due to her considerable amount of following on Instagram. He conducted this heinous deed in front of their two children in his SUV on Sultanpur’s Purvanchal Expressway. According to the officials, the matter appears to be associated with an inferiority complex consequent to her social media appearance.
According to the police, the deceased’s account is private and is yet to be examined by the authorities. The deep-seated insecurity inducted consequent to the victim blocking her husband on Instagram. As a result, it made him suspect that some of her social media admirers visit her in his absence. The entire scenario resulted in escalating tensions within their relationship.
Kurebhar SHO Praveen Kumar Yadav shared with TOI, “The accused owns a tour and travel agency while his wife was a homemaker. The couple lived in the Para locality of Lucknow with their 12-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son.”

While giving further details about the case, the officer said that the mentioned was on their way to Rae Bareli, however, they diverted to Purvanchal Expressway. Around 5 am, the accused made a stop near Mujesh intersection in Sultanpur where he got indulged in a heated argument with his now-deceased wife. In a fit of rage, he fatally strangled her. Their children, who witnessed the entire incident were left traumatized and burst into tears. Subsequently, the accused locked himself inside his car.
After a while, a patrolling team from UPEIDA noticed the vehicle parked suspiciously. They promptly alerted the nearest police station. When the officials arrived at the crime scene, their 12-year-old daughter disclosed the harrowing incident, which led to the arrest of the accused.
