Janmashtami Rush In Delhi: Which Roads Should Commuters Avoid Today?

With large crowds expected at Khatu Shyam Delhi Dham Temple in Narela for Janmashtami, the Delhi Traffic Police has announced special measures to manage congestion and ensure the safety of devotees and commuters.

The traffic advisory will apply from 7:00 AM on September 4, 2026, to 1:00 AM on September 5.

Heavy pedestrian movement will likely slow traffic on NH-44 between Singhu Border and Mukarba Chowk, and commuters have been advised to avoid the stretch where possible.

Motorists can instead take UER-II and Palla-Bakhtawarpur Road.

Depending on traffic conditions, diversions may be imposed at Singhu Border, Bakoli on UER-II and Mukarba Chowk.

Traffic personnel will remain deployed at key locations to regulate vehicles and direct commuters.

The police have asked people not to park on roadsides, warning that obstructive parking could add to congestion.

Travellers should plan their routes in advance, follow diversion signs and cooperate with traffic officials.

Emergency vehicles will receive uninterrupted passage while responding to emergencies, with bypass routes arranged wherever practical.

The traffic measures are aimed at allowing devotees to attend Janmashtami celebrations while keeping regular traffic moving through the area.
