Jamia Hamdard Signs MoU With NDTL To Advance Anti-Doping Research And Training

Jamia Hamdard has formalised a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Dope Testing Laboratory, New Delhi. The agreement focuses on promoting joint research, training, and human resource development in the emerging field of doping science.

The collaboration aims to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation in key areas. These include anti-doping research, the development of reference materials, advanced analytical techniques, and gene-doping detection methods.

The initiative also seeks to build capacity to meet both national and global requirements.

PL Sahu, Director of the National Dope Testing Laboratory, hosted the signing ceremony along with senior officials and scientific staff.

The delegation from Jamia Hamdard was led by M Afshar Alam, Vice Chancellor of the university. Other attendees included Shakir Ali, Suhel Parvez, Sarfaraz Ahsan, and Mohammad Ahmed Khan.

Following the ceremony, the Jamia Hamdard team toured the NDTL facilities. They were briefed on the laboratory’s advanced analytical infrastructure and its role in ensuring fair play in sports.

NDTL is part of a select group of global dope-testing laboratories and serves as India’s leading anti-doping research organisation.

Speaking on the occasion, PL Sahu emphasised that the collaboration would create structured opportunities for training and skill development. He noted that students and researchers would gain exposure to specialised areas of anti-doping science and contribute to national and international needs.

M Afshar Alam highlighted Jamia Hamdard’s strong foundation in pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences. He also stated that the institution would support innovative research in doping science by providing access to its academic expertise and infrastructure.

The partnership will likely enable joint research projects, exchange of expertise, and specialised training programmes. It will also support the development of advanced methodologies and academic activities.

Both institutions expressed confidence that the collaboration will enhance India’s capabilities in anti-doping science and contribute to maintaining integrity in sports.
