Jaipur Tanker Fire Tragedy Claims Another Life; Death Toll Reaches 19

A tragic update has emerged from the 20 December tanker fire incident in Jaipur, with one more person succumbing to critical burn injuries at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital. The latest fatality brings the death toll to 19.

Dr. Rakesh Jain, a doctor at SMS Hospital, confirmed that 28-year-old Lalaram, who had sustained 60% burns, passed away at around 9:20 AM after being on a ventilator for treatment.

Dr. Jain stated, “Currently, 20 severely injured patients are being treated in the hospital’s burn ward, with three of them on ventilators. Lalaram’s body has been placed in the hospital mortuary and will be handed over to his family following a post-mortem examination by a medical board.”

The series of fatalities from the Jaipur-Ajmer highway incident has been increasing.

On 25 December, two more victims passed away:

• 22-year-old Vijeta from Pratapgarh, and
• 36-year-old Vijendra from Bhuribaraj, Jaipur

Both had suffered 70% burns.

Additionally, 35-year-old Banshilal died at 1 PM the same day.

Two more victims died on 24 December – Naresh Babu from Etah, Uttar Pradesh, and Yusuf from Nuh, Haryana.

The accident occurred on Ajmer Road near DPS Bhankrota when an LPG tanker collided with a truck, causing a gas leak that ignited and spread across the highway.

Four individuals burned alive at the scene, while eight others died from their injuries on the same day in hospital, and one more passed away at Jaipuria Hospital.

Driver Jaiveer Singh Opens Up About Tanker Fire, Says, “I Called The Truck Owner & Then Switched Off My Phone

Jaiveer Singh, the driver of the tanker, told the police that he was the only one in the vehicle when the incident occurred.

“Without wasting time, I started running. The gas from the tanker spread on the road like a ball of fire. By the time I reached the ring road, I called the truck owner, Anil Kumar, and informed him about the incident. After that, I switched off my mobile,” Singh asserted.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
