‘Irreparable Loss To The World Of Art’: Amit Shah Pays Tribute To Nana Patekar

Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed grief over the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, who passed away aged 75 after suffering cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa on October 8, 2026.

In a condolence post, Shah described Patekar’s death as an ‘irreparable loss to the world of art’ and remembered his more than five-decade career. He highlighted the actor’s natural performances and powerful dialogue delivery, noting that Patekar brought a wide range of characters to life, from serious social issues to humour and satire.

Shah recalled Patekar’s contribution beyond cinema through the Naam Foundation, which worked with drought-stricken farmer families. He highlighted the actor’s visits to border areas to boost the morale of soldiers, noting that he remained connected to his roots despite achieving fame.

The Home Minister remembered Patekar’s simplicity and straightforward nature, saying these qualities left a deep impression whenever they met.

Shah prayed for strength for Patekar’s grieving family and fans and for the departed soul to find a place at the divine feet, concluding his message with ‘Om Shanti Shanti Shanti’.

Patekar was widely respected for his distinctive acting style and powerful screen presence over a career spanning more than five decades. His performances ranged from intense social dramas to comedy and satire, reflecting his versatility as an actor.

Nana Patekar’s humanitarian work through the Naam Foundation and interactions with armed forces personnel became important parts of his public life, extending his legacy beyond the silver screen.
