Rains wreak havoc in areas of Kullu and Manali couple of months ago. This incident brought the twin areas to a complete standstill. The areas, known to be a tourist destination, wore a deserted look. The recent international Kullu Dussehra festival has however brought the livelihood back to normal in the region.

With the towns being a tourist destination, tourism happens to be the main source of economy in the region. Thirteen out of Fifteen roads in the area have been repaired and tourists arrived in large numbers. Not only from different parts of the nation but from different parts of the globe as well.
Participants of fifteen countries will be taking part in the weeklong cultural programmes which is generally held post Dussehra celebrations. Teams from US, UK, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Russia, Malaysia, Iraq, and other countries have already reached Kullu and domestic tourists keep on coming in the region.

Anil Kant, local businessman-cum-hotelier, expressed happiness and seems to be thrilled. He said that every moment the hotels out there are receiving booking orders. Paras Thakur, a taxi owner, said till other day there was a scarcity in demand of taxis and now hardly a taxi can be found which is not pre-occupied.
