IndiGo Agartala-Delhi Flight Makes Precautionary Landing In Lucknow After False Fire Alert

An IndiGo service travelling from Agartala to Delhi diverted to Lucknow on Tuesday after its pilot detected a suspected fire warning in the aircraft’s cargo compartment.

The pilot opted for a precautionary landing at Lucknow Airport after the alert raised concerns about a possible fire.

The aircraft reached the airport safely, while inspections later established that the warning did not indicate an actual fire.

NDTV reported that the pilot declared an emergency at 6:29 PM IST as the aircraft approached Lucknow. Airport authorities activated a full emergency response before the aircraft landed at 6:31 PM.

The plane moved to its assigned bay at 6:33 PM, and passengers had disembarked by 6:35 PM.

Officials determined around 6:39 PM that the suspected fire alert was false and subsequently stood down the emergency response.

IndiGo arranged the necessary safety checks after the diversion.

The airline’s technical personnel remained available to inspect the aircraft and determine whether it could safely resume operations.

The precautionary action enabled airport and airline teams to investigate the alert while ensuring passenger safety remained the priority.

Tuesday’s incident came shortly after another IndiGo flight faced disruption because of a reported bomb scare.

Flight 6E 97, which operated on September 10, diverted to Ahmedabad after a crew member reportedly discovered a piece of paper bearing the word ‘Bomb’ inside the aircraft.

The aircraft reached Ahmedabad safely at around 5:40 PM, following which the airline initiated security procedures in line with established protocols.

Police reported that the affected aircraft carried 107 passengers and six crew members, with everyone remaining safe at Terminal 2.

IndiGo later arranged a substitute aircraft to help passengers continue their journey.

The replacement service was expected to depart at approximately 8:30 PM.

The two recent incidents underline the importance of established aviation safety procedures when crews encounter potential onboard threats or technical warnings.
