Indian Air Force Day 2026: PM Modi, Amit Shah Salute Air Warriors

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday extended greetings to air warriors and their families on Indian Air Force Day, praising their courage, commitment, valour and service to the nation.

In a post on X, PM Modi said India was proud of its air warriors and saluted their courage and commitment to protecting the country’s skies.

“India is proud of our Air Warriors. On Air Force Day, we salute their courage and commitment to protect our skies!” PM Modi posted.

In a video message, the Prime Minister congratulated air warriors and their families who have served the nation. He said conditions in the sky remain unpredictable and praised the Indian Air Force for demonstrating its strength while providing citizens with a sense of security.

Shah also greeted the Indian Air Force on the occasion, describing its personnel as the ‘Warriors of Our Skies’. He praised their ‘invincible valour’, ‘laser-sharp precision’ and ‘devastating striking capabilities’, saying their patriotism and professionalism would continue to inspire generations.

“I bow to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation,” Shah said in his post.

Indian Air Force Day is observed every year on October 8 to mark the establishment of the force in 1932.

The IAF, which began as an auxiliary air force of British India, has since developed into a major global air power and a key pillar of India’s national security.

The messages from PM Modi and Shah highlighted the nation’s gratitude to air warriors and their families while honouring the courage, professionalism and sacrifice behind the IAF’s service to the country.
