India To Host 11th BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting In Gurugram

The 11th BRICS Meeting of Energy Ministers is taking place today, Thursday, June 25, in Gurugram, India.

This meeting, which India will chair in 2026, will bring together senior officials and energy Ministers from all participating countries to collaborate on new ideas, sustainability, and energy security.

India has selected the topic ‘Energy for All’ this time, demonstrating a shared goal of ensuring that everyone has access to power.

The BRICS group now includes Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the UAE. Together, they make up nearly half of the world’s population and 40 per cent of the global economy.

The meeting comes at a time when countries are trying hard to balance energy safety, fair costs, and climate change.

India’s plan focuses on three simple areas: security, fair access, and new technology.

As the world’s third-largest power producer and user, India sees a steady energy supply as a key part of its 2047 growth plan.

The meeting gives India a great chance to showcase its progress.

Over the past ten years, India has increased its solar power capacity more than 50-fold, installed 60 million smart meters, and built green energy corridors to connect renewable energy to the national grid.

India has also made big moves in biofuels, hitting a 20 per cent ethanol blending target and launching a new high-blend E85 fuel.

Authorities anticipate that this meeting will enhance cooperation among BRICS nations.

India wants to support developing nations and build safer supply networks to prepare for an unpredictable global market.
