India To Experience Variations In Weather Condition Amid Western Disturbance, Heavy Rainfall Predicted

Several parts of Delhi-NCR witnessed sudden rainfall coupled with thunderstorms on Wednesday evening. In view of the poor weather conditions, nine flights were diverted from Delhi to Jaipur airport.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials, the rainfall activity was due to the influence of a western disturbance affecting northwest India. The official added that winds gushing up to 40 kilometers per hour barreled through the city.

Poor Air Days in Mumbai

The Mumbai city recorded 27 ‘poor air’ days, when daily average PM2.5 levels were between 90 and 120 ug/m3, in January and February, compared with just six such days in the corresponding period last year.

In fact, there were zero ‘good air’ days- average PM2.5 levels almost or more than double in BKC, Deonar, Bhandup, and Sion in February compared to last year.

Moderate Rain in Southern region

IMD on Wednesday predicted light moderate rains over southern internal Karnataka districts till Thursday. The weather is expected to remain dry over the remaining districts of the region.

“Scattered very light to moderate rains likely over Mysuru, Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rular districts and isolated very light to light rains likely over Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Ramanagara, Mandya, Chamarajanagara and Tumakuru districts, and dry weather likely to prevail over remaining districts of the region,” says IMD report.
