India To Advance In Quantum Technology, AI With US Collaboration: Technology Minister

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, addressed visiting delegation of the US-India Business Council (USIBC). Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India to advance in quantum technology, artificial intelligence, critical metals, and semiconductor sectors in collaboration with the United States, he said.

The delegation headed by Executive Vice Chairman Edward Knight paid a visit to the Union Minister. They deliberated on various aspects of cooperation.

Recalling PM Modi’s recent visit to the US, the minister emphasized the joint statement on the implementation of greenfield renewable energy, battery storage, and growing green technology projects in India.

Dr. Singh highlighted the government’s goals for artificial intelligence and machine learning. He voiced hope for their incorporation into the USIBC-created AI task force.

“Large Language Models (LLMs) are being worked upon by the Department of Science and Technology which are aligned with the task force,” the minister informed.

India is currently a leader in the field of next-generation technologies.

Minister also briefed the delegation about the “Anusandhan NRF,” on similar lines of the National Research Foundation

The minister noted that India has made significant strides in science and technology over the past ten years, pointing out that the biotech sector alone has more than 4,000 businesses and a $140 billion valuation.

Another example of India’s strength in the space industry is NISAR, a collaborative project between NASA and ISRO.

He also mentioned the advantages of the recently implemented space policy.

Knight invited the Minister to the “49th India Ideas Summit 2024” after praising India’s “JAM” (Jan Dhan Yojana, Aadhaar, and mobile) trinity and direct benefit transfer (DBT) model.
