India Secures LPG, LNG Supplies Through Alternative Routes As West Asia Crisis Continues

India has secured supplies of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) through alternative routes to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability amid the ongoing crisis in West Asia.

Government officials confirmed that shipments from alternative sources are likely to reach the country soon, helping stabilise domestic fuel supply despite global energy market volatility.

Indian refiners have increased domestic LPG production by about 10 per cent after the government directed oil companies to maximise cooking gas output.

Reliance Industries has stepped up LPG production at its Jamnagar refining complex in Gujarat, the world’s largest integrated refining hub.

The company said it is optimising refinery operations to ensure stable fuel supplies for Indian households amid global energy market volatility.

Natural gas from the KG-D6 Basin will also be diverted to priority sectors in line with national energy guidelines to maintain supply for essential services and industries.

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said India’s fuel supply remains stable despite geopolitical tensions. He added that the government is diversifying energy import sources beyond West Asia to avoid supply disruptions.

According to the minister, India continues to receive energy imports through multiple routes, ensuring stability in fuel availability.

The government said households continue to receive full supplies of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG), while industries are receiving about 70–80 per cent of their gas requirements despite the ongoing challenges.

Officials emphasised that ensuring affordable and uninterrupted energy supplies remains a priority. They added that diversification of import routes and higher domestic production will strengthen India’s long-term energy security.
