India Reaffirms Support For Peace And Dialogue In Myanmar, Says PM Modi

India and Myanmar on Monday agreed to advance their bilateral partnership across key areas, including trade, investment, connectivity, development cooperation, capacity building, security and border management during extensive discussions held at Hyderabad House in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing held detailed talks aimed at further deepening the long-standing relationship between the two neighbouring countries.

Both sides emphasised strengthening cooperation rooted in shared history and people-to-people ties, with a focus on promoting peace, progress and prosperity in the region.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s readiness to support peace and dialogue in Myanmar and expressed willingness to share India’s experience in federal governance and economic development.

India reaffirmed its role as a trusted neighbour and reliable partner for Myanmar, acting as a first responder in crises under its Neighbourhood First, Act East and MAHASAGAR policies.

Both sides agreed to expand cooperation in development, capacity building, security coordination and border management, reflecting India’s commitment to regional stability.

This is President U Min Aung Hlaing’s first official visit to India since assuming office. His itinerary includes meetings with President Droupadi Murmu and participation in a cultural exposition in New Delhi.

President U Min Aung Hlaing will also visit Mumbai for business engagements and will be accompanied by a high-level delegation of Ministers and business leaders. His visit began with prayers at the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, highlighting cultural ties between the two nations.

Earlier, NSA Ajit Doval and EAM S Jaishankar held separate meetings with him to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation.
