An India-flagged LPG tanker has successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz, marking another uninterrupted passage for Indian vessels despite continuing instability in West Asia.
The ship, Green Sanvi, moved through the eastern stretch of the strait using an approved route within Iranian waters, according to tracking data. The tanker is carrying an estimated 44,000 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas, contributing to India’s domestic fuel requirements.
With this transit, seven Indian-flagged vessels have now cleared the strategically sensitive corridor since the conflict in the region escalated. All of them have been LPG carriers, reflecting the priority placed on maintaining cooking gas supplies.
Shipping data indicates that a number of Indian vessels remain in the surrounding waters beyond the strait, including oil tankers, container ships and bulk carriers, along with others engaged in routine operations.
Industry sources said additional LPG carriers, including Green Asha and Jag Vikram, are likely to make similar crossings in the coming days.
India has been working through diplomatic channels with Iran to ensure safe movement for its merchant fleet.
Iranian authorities have allowed passage for ships linked to countries considered non-hostile, provided coordination is maintained.
Officials noted that vessels have been clearly identifying their origin during transit as part of standard procedures while navigating the route.
The Strait of Hormuz continues to serve as a vital link for global energy shipments, and recent movements underscore efforts to keep trade routes functional despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region.
