India Inc Pledges Support For Viksit Bharat Mission, Says Assocham

India Inc has pledged to actively support the national mission to transform India into a developed nation by 2047. By then India will become the centenary of its independence, according to the apex industry chamber, Assocham. This commitment was announced on Thursday, reflecting the enthusiasm shared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day address.

Assocham expressed alignment with Modi’s vision, acknowledging his ability to connect deeply with the people. “His address reinforces the enthusiasm of 140 crore Indians to unite and achieve national goals,” said Deepak Sood, Secretary General of Assocham. “The focus will be on leveraging technology and innovation across sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, health services, and education to make India self-reliant.”

Deepak Sood emphasized that reducing government interference and implementing governance reforms are crucial. These changes will help harness the potential of the nation’s youth, who make up a significant portion of the workforce. “By empowering the youth, we can tap into the inherent strengths of our population,” he added.

Furthermore, the chamber welcomed the initiative to involve states in formulating clear policies to attract investments. This approach aims to drive investment-led growth across the country.

The industry body also applauded Modi’s emphasis on sustainable economic growth. His reiteration of India’s goal to reach 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030 provides a significant boost to the country’s efforts. “The focus on green jobs and environmental protection signals a shift towards making these issues national priorities,” Assocham stated.

Finally, Assocham highlighted that with major reforms underway, India is likely to become the third-largest economy. Modi’s call for action is based on a belief. The belief is that if 40 crore Indians secured freedom, then over 140 cr citizens today can achieve the goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
