‘India freely can buy Russian oil, but it’s conditional’

America says India is free to buy as much Russian oil as it requires, but still there are terms and conditions applied.

During a meeting with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, American Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in New Delhi sounded very much in compassion with their long time ally, India.

United States Treasury Secretory Janet Yellen says ‘India freely can buy Russian oil, but it’s conditional.’ Yellen, on a visit to India met her Indian counterpart states so.

Stressing over the American notion, Yellen says the aim is to keep  global oil prices not higher (i.e. lower0 so that Russia’s revenues could be curbed. She pointed out that India will only required to stay distanced with Western financial, maritime services which are bound by the cap.

U.S. Treasury Secretary opined that America is happy for India to carry on purchasing as much Russian oil as it requires, including at prices rising from the level of a G7-imposed price cap mechanism, provided India avoids bound by the cap Western insurance, finance along with maritime services.
