India Emerges As Global Model: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India is not just an emerging market but an emerging model.

He described the country as a beacon of hope for the world, with its economy maintaining high growth despite global challenges.

Speaking at the Ramnath Goenka lecture, PM Modi said, “Although the past four to five years have brought significant global challenges, India has continued to sustain a high growth rate.”

He noted that India has maintained around 7 per cent economic growth despite disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war, and West Asia geopolitical tensions.

The Prime Minister said the world now cites the “Indian growth model” as an example of resilience and progress.

India Emerges Global Model

PM Modi highlighted that over the last 11 years, his government brought 94 crore people under social security cover, compared to only 25 crore citizens who received benefits before 2014.

He stated that government programmes lifted over 28 crore people out of poverty, including initiatives such as Jan Dhan accounts for neglected populations.

The Prime Minister also stressed the development of the 100 poorest districts, previously labelled as “Backward Districts” under the UPA government.

These districts have been renamed “Aspirational Districts” and now receive targeted development through special schemes.

The government selects its best officers, instead of assigning them to punitive postings, to ensure effective development in these areas.

PM Modi called on all state governments to create an investment-friendly environment and facilitate ease of doing business to accelerate development.

He emphasised that growth must reach all sections of society. “The country’s development must reach every section of society. Our mission to build 12 crore toilets has restored dignity to those previously forced to defecate in the open,” he added.

Through social security expansion, poverty alleviation, infrastructure development, and inclusive governance, PM Modi said India is emerging as a model for other nations.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed his vision of equitable growth and sustainable progress for all citizens.
