Indelible Contribution To Bihar: PM Modi Congratulates Nitish Kumar On RS Oath

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended congratulations to Nitish Kumar after he took oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha. He commended Kumar’s long-standing contribution to governance and development.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Nitish Kumar ji is one of the most experienced leaders in the country. His commitment to good governance has been appreciated everywhere. He has made an indelible contribution to the development of Bihar.”

“It will be a great pleasure to see him in Parliament once again. He has also served for many years as a Member of Parliament and Union Minister,” the post read.

PM Modi further added, “I am fully confident that his long political experience will further enhance the dignity of Parliament. Heartiest congratulations to him on taking oath as a Rajya Sabha MP, and heaps of best wishes for his upcoming term.”

Nitish Kumar taking the oath in the Upper House marks a notable transition in his political journey. He had reached New Delhi on Thursday along with Sanjay Jha and Vijay Kumar Choudhary to complete formalities related to his induction.

With this move, he now becomes part of a select group of leaders who have served in all four legislative institutions, the State Assembly, Legislative Council, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, a rare distinction in Indian politics.

Nitish Kumar secured a Rajya Sabha seat unopposed on March 16 and later stepped down from the Bihar Legislative Council on March 30, ending his long association with the body.

Senior leaders of the Janata Dal (United), however, expressed strong support for Kumar, stating that his governance approach will continue to influence the state even as he shifts focus to his parliamentary responsibilities.
