The Indian Development Foundation (IDF) hosted an event at Nehru Science Center in Mumbai, where classical singer Oorja Akshara was honored for her efforts to raise awareness about women’s hygiene.
Akshara received the IDF Student Ambassador Gratitude Honor for her work in spreading awareness about hygiene. She stated that this achievement was not only hers but also of everyone involved in the cause. “This achievement is not only mine, but of all of us,” she said.
Akshara’s mother, Dr Rachna, was also present to support her.
Akshara spoke about her passion for Project Dignity, a donation drive aimed at inspiring change. “What kept me going wasn’t just the idea of making a difference; it was the thought of someone, somewhere, feeling seen and valued because of our collective work,” she said.
She emphasized the importance of empathy, quoting, “In a world often consumed by indifference, kindness is revolutionary. It has the power to cut through negativity and inspire real, tangible change.”
Reflecting on her experience with IDF, Akshara said, “Kindness is not just about giving; it’s about knowing that your actions, no matter how small, can ripple through someone’s life and restore their faith in humanity and life.”
She added, “Working with IDF has made me realize that striving for a better future builds a world where everyone can live with dignity.”
Akshara concluded by quoting Winston Churchill, “We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.” She thanked IDF for the honor and expressed special gratitude to her parents and younger brother for their support during difficult times.
