The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for various districts in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Assam.
Over the next two to three hours, these regions are likely to experience moderate rainfall coupled with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching up to 60 kmph.
In Madhya Pradesh, districts including Dhar, Barwani, Khargone, Dindori, Mandla, and Balaghat will likely face intense weather conditions.
Chhattisgarh is also likely to witness a severe impact, with alerts issued for Mungeli, Kabirdham, Bemetara, Raipur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Balod, Kanker, and Narayanpur.
In Maharashtra, parts such as Gondia, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Wardha, and Nanded, placed under similar warnings.
Meanwhile, Karnataka’s Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, and Ramnagar districts are forecast to encounter adverse conditions.
Weather activity will likely intensify in Tamil Nadu as well, affecting districts like Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kallakkurichi, Cuddalore, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Tenka Si, Kanyakumari, and Theni.
Authorities have also placed Kerala’s Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram on alert.
In the northeast, Assam’s Dibrugarh, Charaideo, and Sibsagar are likely to see significant thunderstorm activity.
Officials urge residents in affected areas to stay indoors, avoid taking shelter under trees or unstable structures, and refrain from non-essential travel.
They also advise commuters to monitor traffic and weather updates, as sudden downpours may cause waterlogging and hazardous road conditions.
The IMD is closely observing the situation and will provide further updates.
Meanwhile, officials encourage citizens to follow official channels for the latest weather information and safety instructions.
