IMD: North India Likely To Experience Minimum Temperature; Delhi Provides Shelter Homes For Homeless People

IMD: Outbreak of cold wave will be seen in the north region of India. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Jharkhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Bihar are likely to experience cold to severe cold waves. Amidst the bone chilling nights, Delhi has arranged shelter homes for the people.

Cold Wave In North India

In a release, the IMD said, “Gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 4-6 degree Celsius very likely over many parts of Northwest India during next 3 days and no significant change thereafter. Gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 3-5 degree Celsius very likely over Madhya Pradesh during next 3 days and no significant change.”

On Saturday, the weather agency also predicted a gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 4-6 degree Celsius over many parts of northwest India during the next three days.

“Dense to very dense fog” in isolated/some parts during night and morning hours over Punjab, Haryana and Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during next five days, the release said.

Dense fog is predicted in isolated pockets over Bihar during next five days; Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand during next four days and West Bengal, Odisha, north Madhya Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and Tripura during next two days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) classifies fog as ‘very dense’ when visibility is between 0 to 50 meters, moderate between 201 to 500 metres and Shallow between 501 to 1000 meters.

Delhi Provides Shelter Homes

Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) provided shelter homes for the homeless people.

Delhiites seen sitting around the bonfires to get relief from the extreme cold wave.

Moreover, several flights at the IGI Airports have been delayed today.

In a tweet by ANI reported, “Some flights (Delhi-Riyadh, Delhi-Shimla-Kullu, Delhi-Varanasi, Delhi-Dharamshala-Srinagar, Delhi-Shimla- Dharamshala, Delhi-Dehradun) are delayed due to fog.
