Rainfall
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert on Sunday for East Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, and Central Maharashtra, predicting heavy rains in these regions.
IMD scientist Dr. Naresh Kumar stated, “Monsoon is in its active phase. There is a deep depression in Northeast MP and low pressure in Southwest Rajasthan. We expect extremely heavy rainfall in western Madhya Pradesh, eastern Rajasthan, Gujarat, the Konkan region, Goa, and Central Maharashtra for which we have also issued a red alert. There will be no rain in Delhi-NCR in the next two days.”
The IMD’s latest press bulletin forecasted fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan over the next seven days. Uttar Pradesh will experience scattered to fairly widespread rainfall, while Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi will see isolated to scattered rainfall during the week.
East and Northeast India can expect fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms throughout the week. On August 4, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is predicted over West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Konkan, and the ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra.
Throughout the week, Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat regions will likely experience fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning.
In the South peninsular region, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, and Coastal Karnataka will see fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall over the next five days. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, interior Karnataka, and Rayalaseema regions will experience isolated to scattered rainfall during the same period.
