IIT-BHU Boosts Security Measures Following Assault on Student
At the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) – Banaras Hindu University (BHU) campus, a disturbing incident occurred where a woman student was allegedly assaulted by three unidentified men. The incident took place near her hostel, and the perpetrators also recorded a video of the act.
In response to this incident, a significant number of students have protested, demanding stricter security measures and a closed campus. They are particularly concerned about outsiders entering the campus and have called for a separation wall between IIT and BHU.

The institute has responded to these demands by stating that they will actively pursue the proposal of a closed campus with restricted entry in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. They have also increased security measures, including the installation of more CCTV cameras on the campus. Additionally, they plan to restrict student movement between 10 pm and 5 am.
The victim filed a complaint, stating that the assault occurred when she was out with a friend near the Karman Baba temple. Three men on a motorcycle forcibly separated her from her friend, assaulted her, stripped her, and recorded the incident. They released her after 15 minutes but took her phone number.

Local police are conducting an investigation into the matter and are working in conjunction with the university administration to enhance campus safety. The incident has sparked significant concerns and calls for measures to ensure the security and well-being of students on the IIT-BHU campus.
