IIT Aspirant’s Mysterious Death In Kota: Investigation Underway

An 18-year-old IIT aspirant from Uttar Pradesh, Kushagra Rastogi, died under mysterious circumstances in Kota on Monday.

Rastogi moved to Kota in April to attend coaching classes. He was staying at a hostel in the Old Rajeev Gandhi Nagar area. His mother had arrived in Kota two days prior to visit him.

On Monday morning, Rastogi went to the bathroom for a shower. When he did not return after 10-15 minutes, his mother grew concerned. She called out for him but received no response. She then went to check and found the bathroom door open. Inside, she discovered her son lying unconscious.

Quickly, she and the hostel staff rushed him to the hospital. Despite their efforts, Rastogi died during treatment. The exact cause of his death remains unclear.

Jawahar Nagar police station SHO Hari Narayan Sharma provided details about the incident. He confirmed that the body had been moved to a mortuary. Sharma stated, “We are waiting for his father to arrive in Kota before proceeding with the post-mortem. The examination will help determine the cause of death.”

Currently, doctors are also uncertain about the reason for Rastogi’s death. Sharma mentioned that they will have more information after the post-mortem is completed on Tuesday.

As of now, Rastogi’s mother is in Kota alone, and she has not yet been informed of her son’s death. The police are handling the situation with sensitivity, considering her isolation in the city.
