BJP MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, who were injured in a scuffle in Parliament on Thursday, are reported to be in stable condition, according to hospital officials.
Dr. Ajay Shukla, Medical Superintendent at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, confirmed, “Medical reports received yesterday are fine. Some reports will come today.”
The scuffle erupted during a protest staged by both NDA and INDIA bloc MPs on the Parliament premises.
BJP MP Sarangi alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pushed another MP, causing the MP to fall on him and injure him. Sarangi, who was near the stairs at the time, claimed the fall resulted in a head injury.
“I was standing near the stairs when Rahul Gandhi came and pushed a fellow MP. That MP fell on me, causing me to fall as well,” Sarangi told reporters
Following the incident, political tensions between the BJP and Congress escalated.
BJP MPs, led by Anurag Thakur, filed a complaint with the Delhi Police against Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of ‘assault and incitement’.
In response, Congress MPs, including several women leaders, approached the Parliament Street Police, accusing BJP leaders of misbehaving with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge during the altercation.
Rahul Gandhi defended himself, stating that he was attempting to enter Parliament when BJP MPs, who were protesting near the entrance, pushed and threatened him. He also confirmed that the confrontation involved pushing Congress leader Kharge.
“This might be on your camera. I was trying to go inside through the Parliament entrance, but BJP MPs were trying to stop me, push me, and threaten me. This has happened. Yes, this has happened,” Gandhi stated.
