Union Health Minister JP Nadda will arrive in Madhya Pradesh on December 23 to lay the foundation stones for new medical colleges, starting in Dhar and Betul.
The move forms part of the state’s plan to strengthen healthcare facilities in districts that currently lack adequate medical infrastructure.
Public Works Department Minister Rakesh Singh said the new institutions aim to improve access to medical education and healthcare services in backward and underserved regions.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Gwalior and Rewa on December 25 to take part in the Abhyuday Madhya Pradesh Growth Summit. This will mark his first participation in the summit, which aims to attract large-scale investments to the state.
During the event, HM Amit Shah will hand over letters of intent to investors planning to invest a combined amount of nearly ₹2 lakh crore. The announcements are expected to provide a significant boost to industrial and economic activity in Madhya Pradesh.
As part of his visit, HM Amit Shah will also virtually inaugurate the Gwalior Mela and attend the Krishi and Kisan Sammelan.
His schedule includes visits related to Gau Vansh initiatives and Vanya Bihar, underlining the government’s emphasis on agriculture, livestock welfare, and forest-based livelihoods.
Following a state cabinet meeting, Rakesh Singh detailed several major infrastructure approvals. The state has included the four-laning of the 65-kilometre Barwah–Dhamnod road under the Hybrid Annuity Model as one of its flagship projects, to be executed by the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation.
The ₹2,500 crore project will link two national highways and pass through the religious town of Maheshwar. Singh said the state will contribute ₹900 crore over 15 years and added that the project will increase vehicle speeds on the route from the current 25–30 km/h to nearly 100 km/h after completion.
The cabinet has cleared ₹197 crore for setting up a law university in the state. In addition, the government has approved ₹434 crore for a Weather Information Network, with the state bearing ₹147 crore of the cost.
Villages with a population of at least 2,000 and a minimum of 500 cows qualify for the scheme. Out of 230 Assembly constituencies, authorities have already identified suitable locations in 193, while they expect to complete the process in the remaining constituencies soon.
Highlighting urban growth, Singh noted that Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar recently inaugurated the priority corridor of the Bhopal Metro Rail. The government has also granted approval for a 3.3-kilometre underground metro section to ease congestion in densely populated areas.
The release of the Bhopal Metropolitan Region map was another key development. Covering 12,099 square kilometres, the region includes 12 urban centres, 30 tehsils, and 2,524 villages across multiple districts.
Singh said the series of announcements reflects Madhya Pradesh’s strategy to achieve balanced urban and rural development under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
