Historic Landmark In Bilateral Relations; Slovakia President After Talks With PM Modi

President Peter Pellegrini of the Slovak Republic met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday and described the engagement as a historic landmark in Slovakia-India relations.

The leaders held discussions at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on the margins of the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

President Pellegrini congratulated PM Modi on convening what he termed an exceptionally well-organised summit.

He commended India’s efforts to assemble global leaders, innovators and industry captains to advance responsible artificial intelligence and reinforce international collaboration.

During the meeting, PM Modi and President Pellegrini undertook a comprehensive review of bilateral ties.

They examined cooperation in trade, investment, digital technologies, defence, space, energy, culture and people-to-people exchanges.

Both sides resolved to intensify collaboration, particularly in the digital domain.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the leaders welcomed renewed dynamism in relations following the adoption of the landmark India-EU Free Trade Agreement and the India-EU Joint Comprehensive Strategic Agenda 2030. They agreed to consolidate strategic engagement for mutual benefit.

President Pellegrini underscored that the occasion marked the first-ever reception of a Slovak Head of State in India.

He characterised the interaction with PM Modi as a defining milestone in bilateral diplomacy.

In a post on X, President Pellegrini reiterated his appreciation for the summit’s organisation.

He affirmed that artificial intelligence must remain accessible and inclusive.

He stressed that AI should serve citizens broadly rather than concentrate advantages in limited hands.

The leaders also focused on tangible outcomes in commerce and investment.

They discussed enhanced cooperation in innovation, secure technologies and talent mobility.

They encouraged academic and expert exchanges, particularly in the energy sector.

The summit, themed ‘Welfare for All, Happiness of All’, seeks to establish India as a global AI frontrunner.

It envisages technology that advances humanity, promotes inclusive development and safeguards the planet.

Seven working groups, aligned with the pillars of People, Planet and Progress, drive sectoral outcomes.

The gathering hosts over 500 global AI leaders, senior executives, academics, technology experts and government representatives, including numerous Heads of State and Ministers.
