The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare convened the ‘Suraksha Sankalp Karyashala’ to strengthen district-level HIV response, with a special focus on Haryana and Delhi. The initiative aims to reinforce grassroots interventions and improve programme efficiency.
Organised by the National AIDS Control Organisation, the workshop brought together district programme teams to review progress, identify operational challenges, and formulate targeted action plans. It enabled coordination among national, state, and district stakeholders to enhance treatment access and outreach.
The platform emphasised improving linkage to care, ensuring retention in treatment, and increasing viral load suppression among people living with HIV. It also prioritised targeted interventions for vulnerable and high-risk populations.
Discussions centred on strengthening implementation through inter-sectoral coordination, capacity building, and effective monitoring systems. Authorities stressed early diagnosis, timely initiation of Anti-Retroviral Therapy, sustained adherence, and elimination of stigma.
Rakesh Gupta highlighted the global ‘95:95:95’ targets, aiming for widespread diagnosis, treatment coverage, and viral suppression.
Haryana has achieved an encouraging ratio of 81:83:95, though gaps remain. Delhi continues to face challenges, with only about 70 per cent of identified individuals receiving treatment.
Officials identified 219 districts nationwide for intensified action, including 11 in Haryana and seven in Delhi.
Delhi records an adult HIV prevalence of 0.33 per cent, with 59,079 cases, while Haryana reports 0.24 per cent prevalence with 59,642 cases.
The government reiterated that sustained vigilance and coordinated efforts remain essential to combat HIV effectively.
