HC seeks report in case of BHU student missing

Allahabad High Court has directed state government to file the progress report in the ongoing  investigation in the case of BHU student who went missing in Varanasi from  four and a half years .The above said direction  was given by division bench comprising of  Acting Chief Justice Mr Justice  Manoj Kumar Gupta and  Mr Justice Manish Kumar Nigam while hearing the PIL of advocate Saurabh Tiwari.

According to the facts Shiv Kumar Trivedi, a B.Sc student at BHU, had gone missing under suspicious circumstances in February 2020 from Lanka police station, Varanasi. He came here from Panna (MP) to study. The investigation of the case was handed over to CBCID. The investigation revealed the fact that the student’s body was found in a pond four kilometers away from the police station. This came to light in December 2021.

The petitioner pleaded that  that an FIR has been registered against eight police personnel of Lanka police station, but no progress is being made in the investigation. When the High Court asked the government lawyer about the progress report, he asked for time.
