The Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCH & RC), Punjab, renewed its Memorandum of Understanding with the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Punjab, to continue providing cashless treatment facilities to ESIC beneficiaries across the state.
Dr Ashish Gulia, Director of HBCH & RC Punjab, and Deepak Malik, Regional Director of ESIC Punjab, signed the agreement in the presence of Dr Rachita Biswas, Medical Commissioner of ESIC, and Dr Rajiv Chhabra, State Medical Officer.
The renewed partnership aims to ensure that insured beneficiaries continue receiving quality healthcare services without facing financial difficulties during treatment.
Under the agreement, the hospital will provide a wide range of medical services, including outpatient consultations, inpatient care, diagnostic and laboratory investigations, emergency treatment, daycare procedures and radiotherapy services.
The collaboration between HBCH & RC and ESIC Punjab has already supported thousands of patients in recent years.
During the financial year 2025–26, around 2,395 ESIC cardholders received cashless treatment at the hospital’s New Chandigarh campus, while another 713 beneficiaries availed treatment at the Sangrur facility.
Hospital officials stated that nearly 150 ESIC beneficiaries access healthcare services at the institute every month on average.
Dr Ashish Gulia thanked ESIC Punjab for supporting affordable healthcare access and said such partnerships help financially vulnerable patients receive quality treatment. He reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to patient-centric care and ensuring no patient remains deprived of treatment due to economic challenges.
HBCH & RC Punjab operates as a 300-bed tertiary cancer hospital offering advanced treatment facilities, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and bone marrow transplants.
Its 150-bed Sangrur centre supports cancer care services across Punjab and nearby regions.
