Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Meets PM Modi; Discusses Vibrant Gujarat & GST Relief

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and described the interaction as ‘a joyous occasion’.

He credited PM Modi’s leadership for positioning Gujarat as India’s ‘most preferred investment destination’ through the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.

CM Patel informed the Prime Minister about the state government’s plan to launch Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences across different zones of the state. He sought and received Modi’s guidance to expand investor outreach and ensure balanced industrial development across Gujarat.

Gratitude for GST Rate Cuts

The Chief Minister conveyed gratitude on behalf of Gujarat’s people for the Centre’s recent GST reductions. He said the move would ease financial pressure on millions of households by cutting everyday expenses and improving their quality of life.

Launched in 2003 by then Chief Minister Modi, the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit has evolved into one of India’s leading investment platforms.

Over the years, it has attracted participants from more than 135 countries and facilitated thousands of MoUs across sectors like energy, infrastructure, IT, chemicals, and manufacturing.

The 2019 edition alone brought over 42,000 delegates, including heads of state and Fortune 500 CEOs, and saw investment intentions worth ₹20 lakh crore. The summit is widely regarded as a brand that positions Gujarat as India’s ‘Gateway to the World’.

The GST Council recently approved a major overhaul of tax slabs, rationalising them into two main rates, 5% and 18%. A special 40% rate will remain applicable to select items such as high-end cars, tobacco, and cigarettes.

The GST Council set a uniform 5% tax on restaurant meals effective September 22, replacing the earlier 12–18% range that varied by category.
