Dr. Rajeshwar Singh, the Sarojininagar MLA, on the Nirvana Day of Swami Vivekananda, made a significant announcement in Sarojininagar promising a grand distribution program for assistive devices to benefit disabled individuals. Scheduled for October 2nd, coinciding with the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, the initiative aims to bolster ‘Disabled Empowerment’ under the Antyodaya schemes.

Over 60 lakhs worth of assistive devices have already been distributed in Sarojininagar, encompassing a wide range including Manual & Motorized Tricycles, Wheelchairs, Walking Sticks, and Hearing Aids. Notably, 5 lakhs each were allocated for enhanced accessibility at Dadupur Sports Stadium and Lokbandhu Hospital, emphasizing inclusive infrastructure.

Efforts have also focused on streamlining support through UDID cards, benefiting over 800 disabled residents with home delivery services, and re-registering 500 individuals to ensure comprehensive coverage. This initiative underscores a commitment to nationwide disability empowerment, with plans to extend resources beyond Sarojini Nagar to encompass the entire state.

The forthcoming event promises to be a milestone in advancing accessibility and inclusion, marking a pivotal step towards a more equitable society.
