The 7th & 8th of October 2023 witnessed a bevy of 65-year-old young ladies transform into a giggly bunch of 16-year-olds!! This heartwarming event was witnessed in Loreto Convent, Lucknow when 40 friends met to commemorate their Golden Jubilee Anniversary. In the year 1973 these teenagers with a dream in their eyes parted ways to commence on a fresh adventure of life. Upholding the values of their alma mater, these remarkable ladies made a distinct impact in all walks of life – education, civil services, medical, banking, corporate sectors, armed forces, business, social service, art, and dance. The list is endless, each one an achiever in her own way.
They met again after 50 years to renew those bonds of yesteryears. Two days of gay abandon, visiting every nook and corner of their school, joyfully singing the Loreto Chorus in the special assembly so wonderfully organized by the school, being warmly hosted by the LAA, lunch, dinner, brunch!! Photographs clicked galore, endless animated banter recalling “the smiles, the tears of their girlhood years”, singing, dancing to their popular numbers, doting grandmothers sharing pictures of their grandkids, – the entire atmosphere was electrifying!
However, there was something so precious missing, ‘the smiles and laughter of 4 of their dear friends who have left for their heavenly abode. They were fondly remembered in a special service in the school chapel.
The 2 days whirled past, full of fun, laughter and nostalgia, fond goodbyes followed with promises of hopefully meeting again.
Curtains came down on the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the ISC batch of 1973 – a special batch as their 50th year celebration coincides with the sesquicentennial – 150 years of Loreto Convent.
