Shahjahanpur: In Shahjahanpur district, five people of a family got severely burnt when a gas cylinder exploded inside their house in the early hours of Saturday. They have been admitted to the Government Medical College in critical condition.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Sanjay Kumar said that a gas cylinder exploded in the early hours of Saturday in the house of contractual cleaning worker Bhaiya Lal, a resident of Mohalla Dilajak of Sadar Bazar area of the police station.

Due to the blast, the doors and windows of the house were broken. Bhaiyalal Lal (55), his son Anuj (32), daughter-in-law Rohini (30), granddaughter Anushka (7), and Ishika (4) got seriously burnt in the accident. ASP said that the gas regulator remained open at night due to which the gas was released. It kept leaking.
Early in the morning, when the lighter was lit to make tea, it caught fire and the cylinder exploded with a loud bang. ASP said that all the injured are being treated at the Government Medical College.
