Gangtok: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Celebrates Vijayadashami With Armed Forces; Performs ‘Shastra Puja’

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh marked the festival of Vijayadashami by performing ‘Shastra Puja’ alongside armed forces personnel in Gangtok on Saturday.

In a spirited atmosphere, he greeted the soldiers, applying tilak as they responded with enthusiastic shouts of ‘Jai Hind’.

The Union Minister also took the opportunity to pose for photographs with the armed forces personnel, celebrating their dedication to the nation.

Earlier in the day, he extended Vijayadashami greetings to the citizens of India, emphasizing the festival’s significance in promoting goodwill and strength.

Later in the day, Rajnath Singh is likely to e-inaugurate a significant array of 75 infrastructure projects valued at Rs 2,236 crore, aimed at enhancing military mobility and logistical support in sensitive regions along the China border.

This initiative is likely to strengthen strategic access and operational readiness in forward areas.

The new infrastructure includes several vital bridges in the Chenab Valley region of Jammu and Kashmir, designed to enhance connectivity.

These structures will link the Jammu-Srinagar Highway with Dhar Road and serve as crucial alternate routes from the Kathua region.

Notable bridges in the Jammu Parliamentary constituency such as Korga, Sanu, Chenani, and Darsu, along with Sewa Do, Byalu, Khudwa, and Swan bridges in Udhampur, are part of this initiative.

Rajnath Singh Addresses Army Commanders’ Conference

Rajnath Singh is currently on a two-day visit to Sikkim, where he is addressing the Army Commanders’ Conference 2024, which commenced on Friday.

The conference aims to tackle pressing national security issues, focusing on a multi-faceted strategy that encompasses Civil-Military Fusion, as well as the Diplomatic, Information, Military, and Economic (DIME) dimensions to effectively counter modern threats.

Key discussions will revolve around developing cost-effective technologies and alternative strategies to address the evolving nature of warfare.

Senior commanders will also review operational preparedness, discuss critical strategies, and outline future directives during this important gathering.

Throughout the event, the Defence Minister will receive briefings on emerging security challenges and the responses of the armed forces in safeguarding the nation’s interests.

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing military infrastructure and readiness in the face of contemporary security dynamics.
