Ganga Boat Tragedy: 7 Children From Same Family Die As Boat Capsizes In Bihar

Seven children from the same family died after a boat carrying 20 to 30 people to a feast in a neighbouring village capsized in the Ganga’s main current.

Residents rushed to the river after hearing cries for help.

The district administration, police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams and local divers joined the rescue operation.

Seven children were from the family of Rampravesh Rai, alias Raja, of Rampur Shyamchand.

Authorities are verifying the passenger count and searching for missing people.

The tragedy sparked protests against the district administration.

Villagers alleged that the boat was old and poorly maintained. They claimed authorities ignored their earlier requests to replace it.

Residents suspected that the boat exceeded its passenger capacity. Officials are investigating the cause of the accident.

Union Minister Chirag Paswan mourned the deaths in Raghopur Diyara, part of his parliamentary constituency. He said he had contacted the District Magistrate to discuss rescue efforts and government assistance for affected families.

Paswan said he would visit the accident site, meet bereaved families and check on the injured. He added that authorities had taken injured passengers to NMCH for treatment.

The Bihar Congress mourned the children’s deaths and offered condolences to their families.

The party prayed for the children’s souls and wished their families strength to endure the loss.

Authorities are verifying the final death toll, locating missing passengers and investigating the circumstances of the capsizing.
