In the 2023 G20 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak apart from participating in the G20 Summit. During this meeting, both leaders discussed several issues. The British PM is currently on a visit to India to attend the G20 Summit. On Sunday (September 10), Rishi Sunak will also visit the Akshardham Temple in Delhi.
After the meeting, Prime Minister Modi took to social media and said in his post on ‘X,’ “It was wonderful to meet with PM Rishi Sunak in Delhi, apart from the G20 Summit. We discussed ways to strengthen economic relations and boost investments.” He mentioned that India and Britain will continue to work for a prosperous and sustainable world.
Prior to this, the G20 Summit began in Delhi on Saturday, with the first session attended by global leaders. During this session, Prime Minister Modi appealed to world leaders, saying that the world has faced a new challenge of diminished trust after the global COVID-19 pandemic, and unfortunately, conflicts have deepened it.

He stated, “But we must remember that if we can defeat a global pandemic like COVID, we can also overcome the challenge of diminished trust. Today, as the Chair of G20, India appeals to the world to transform this lack of trust into trust in each other and seek new solutions to old challenges.”
Prime Minister Modi emphasized that it is a time for all of us to come together for global well-being. This session saw the participation of several leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, among others.
