Fulfil Swami Vivekananda’s Dreams, PM Modi Tells Youth In Mysuru

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre (Viveka Smaraka) in Mysuru on Saturday. He urged the country’s youth to fulfil Swami Vivekananda’s dreams and said the memorial would inspire service, leadership and nation-building.

Addressing a large gathering, the Prime Minister said, “The dreams seen by Swami Vivekananda are the dreams that today’s young generation must fulfil. I am confident that the Viveka Smaraka will serve as an inspiration in this direction.”

PM Modi said Swami Vivekananda saw other nations educate and empower their youth. At that time, India remained under colonial rule. He added that India’s young generation has progressed remarkably from that era and now contributes to global development.

The Prime Minister digitally unveiled the plaque and cut the ceremonial ribbon to dedicate the memorial to the nation.

The Viveka Smaraka stands at the site where Swami Vivekananda stayed during his visit to Mysuru in 1892 before travelling to the West.

Thousands of people lined the streets to welcome the Prime Minister as his convoy travelled through Mysuru.

Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, BJP State President BY Vijayendra and several other dignitaries attended the ceremony.

Before addressing the gathering, PM Modi visited the Vivekananda Museum. He also paid floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda’s statue and offered prayers before the portraits of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi. He later spent a few moments in meditation.

The Ramakrishna Ashrama presented the Prime Minister with a 1.5-foot Italian marble statue of Swami Vivekananda sculpted by renowned artist Arun Yogiraj.

The newly inaugurated centre houses a yoga and meditation auditorium, a library and a study centre for competitive examination aspirants.

PM Modi began his address by offering prayers to Goddess Chamundeshwari. He also recalled the Ramakrishna Mission’s profound influence on his life. He also praised the Ramakrishna Ashrama for preserving Swami Vivekananda’s ideals through dedicated service to humanity.
