From Next Year, June 1 Will Be Public Holiday On Occasion Of Bhopal Pride Day – Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Bhopal will observe a public holiday on June 1 starting next year, according to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. On Bhopal Gaurav Divas, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan visited Bhopal Gate to offer the Safari Mitras his congratulations.

While congratulating Bhopal Merger Day, he said that as a result of the sacrifices of innumerable people and the struggle of brave sons, on June 1, 1949, two years after the country’s independence, Bhopal became an integral part of India.

Chief Minister Chouhan unfurled the national flag amid a colour gulal, a shower of flowers, and fireworks. He paid floral tributes to Bharat Mata after singing Jana-Gana-Mana and remembered the martyrs of the merger by lighting a torch. Tribute was also paid by offering flowers on the portraits of the martyrs. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also visited the picture exhibition focused on the Bhopal merger movement.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that the new generation does not know that Bhopal did not become independent on August 15, 1947, when India became independent. The Nawab refused to merge Bhopal with India. In this situation, the merger movement started in Bhopal.

He paid tribute to the martyrs of Boras, remembering the struggles of respected Uddhav Das Mehta, Balkrishna Gupta, and Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan honoured about 100 Safai Mitras by wearing shawls. It was informed that sanitation workers are being honoured in all the wards of Bhopal.

Medical Education Minister Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang said that with the initiative taken by Chief Minister Chouhan to celebrate Bhopal’s Pride Day on June 1, the coming generation will be aware of the history of Bhopal. Mayor Smt. Malti Rai wished the people of Bhopal on the occasion of Gaurav Diwas. Former Mayor Alok Sharma was present.
