French President And PM Modi Holds ‘Important’ Meeting Over Lunch After Conclusion Of G20

The prestigious G20 event has finally come to a conclusion. This 2-day event needed days and nights of endless preparation. Our leaders and all the people working tirelessly for this event are now relieved somehow. But seems that it has not ended in real sense. On the sidelines of G20, PM of India – Narendra Modi had lunch with French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday. S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs and Ajit Doval, the national security adviser, were in the company of the prime minister.

“A very productive lunch meeting with President @EmmanuelMacron. We discussed a series of topics and look forward to ensuring India-France relations scale new heights of progress”, PM Modi posted on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

French President hails Indian efforts on G20 and congratulates PM Modi

“We will further develop defence cooperation with India”, Macron was quoted by media. Prior to that, Macron praised India’s efforts to promote peace and unity by holding the G20 presidency and congratulated Prime Minister Modi.

Macron stated, “I thank PM Modi. Faithful to its principles India did its utmost for the G-20 presidency to serve unity and peace and send across the message of unity while Russia is still waging its aggression on Ukraine.”

Macron called for deep reform of international organisations

Macron also called for deep reform of international organisations. “We support a deep reform of global governance. Security Council but as well the World Bank and the IMF, they have to reflect today’s reality in terms of demography and economy as well. And then we want to increase the available tools. That’s why we want to replenish the World Bank and France is supporting that so that the emerging countries have a greater role to play”, the French president said.
