French Embassy Shares Ghibli-Style Image Of Macron & PM Modi; Celebrates Bilateral Ties

The French Embassy in India has joined the latest internet trend, posting a Studio Ghibli-inspired illustration of French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The whimsical artwork, shared on the embassy’s official X handle, features both leaders smiling in a style reminiscent of the iconic Japanese animation studio.

Taking to X, the French Embassy in India posted, “President @EmmanuelMacron and Prime Minister @NarendraModi, imagined in Studio Ghibli-style art – a tribute to the enduring India-France friendship.”

Online Craze For Ghibli-Styled Art

This creative wave follows OpenAI’s latest upgrade to its GPT-4o model, which now allows users to generate artwork in the signature aesthetic of Studio Ghibli, the legendary animation house co-founded by Hayao Miyazaki.

Since the rollout, social media has seen a flood of Ghibli-themed content, from celebrities to historic figures, all reimagined with soft hues and dreamy backgrounds typical of Miyazaki’s storytelling.

While the trend has sparked excitement and nostalgia for Ghibli fans, it has also drawn criticism.

Some art enthusiasts argue that replicating the studio’s signature style through AI undercuts the originality and emotional depth of Miyazaki’s hand-drawn creations, immortalized in classics like Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and My Neighbor Totoro.
