Former IAS Navneet Sehgal Appointed Chairman of Prasar Bharati By Central Government

The central government has appointed Navneet Sehgal, a retired UP cadre IAS officer, as the new chairman of Prasar Bharati. Sehgal, who retired just last year. Following the central government’s decision, Navneet Sehgal will now helm Prasar Bharati for the next three years.

Throughout his career, Navneet Sehgal has been a prominent figure in the UP bureaucracy, having served under three Chief Ministers. Notably, he held the position of Government Secretary in the Information and Public Relations Department for an extended period. A member of the 1988 batch of the IAS, Sehgal was a key member of CM Yogi’s core team and had close ties with Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav. During Akhilesh’s tenure, he spearheaded the construction of the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, completing it in record time.

Navneet Sehgal’s Early Life

Sehgal’s journey began in Faridkot, Punjab, in 1963, where he was born. He received his early education in Haryana, where his father worked, and completed his 10th and 12th examinations there as well. Remarkably, at the age of 19, he cleared the B.Com examination and enrolled in the CA course, which he completed in 1986. The following year, in 1987, he also attained the Company Secretary qualification. Subsequently, in 1988, he successfully passed the civil services examination.
